I've been writing since grade school and taking pictures for longer then I've been writing. I'm sorry I don't have any samples of either of those endeavours, but trust me, they were pretty much what you'd expect them to be.
My first writing was demanded of me as a student. My first photography was with an old Kodak box camera I insisted on having. I forced my parents to waste money on film and development whenever they could, and in return I would offer them totally unspectacular images of my brother and mud puddles, often double and triple exposed.
Needless to say, the camera mysteriously went missing. I now feel that a little encouragement might not have been misplaced, but then again, maybe I felt challenged this way and wouldn't have tried as hard if I'd been encouraged.
